Inspiration

Birth of the project

First of all, it was the idea for the song’s lyrics that came to me. In a world that seems to be going off the rails, bombarded every day by a load of bad news, I realised that in most cases we are surrounded by kind people, who do what they can for good. And it’s this that needed to be highlighted.

How we built it

Creating the song

After writing the lyrics, with the help of chatGPT, I created the music on Suno. I wanted to give it an unmistakably positive and joyful tone. I took inspiration from the styles of music I enjoy and from powerful, unifying French songs.

Creating the video

I started from an image I had previously created on dall-E: a humanoid robot, eating an apple, sitting on a hay bale in a typical, timeless countryside setting.

I found that this image reflected our present world well, caught between the excitement and anxiety of progress and the attachment to, and sometimes return to, traditions.

Then I had the idea to make this robot do something typically human: dance. Then dance together…

Challenges we ran into

synchronized choreography

The hardest part was getting the robots to dance together. I assumed that AI wouldn't allow that with the precise steps I wanted them to perform. So I had planned to generate three separate videos and layer them in Adobe Premiere. But the videos generated with Kling's motion brush feature all had slight camera movements, which made the layering look strange and shaky. After many attempts, I finally managed to get (or almost get) stable videos.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

**color calibration*

As the generations of videos went by, the color grading changed slightly, which resulted in a set with colors that were quite different between the first and last shot. I managed to fix this thanks to color correction in Adobe Premiere, and I find the result fairly consistent.

What we learned

perseverance

Perseverance is definitely essential when working with generative video AI.
