Inspiration

Current traditional KYC processes are rather inefficient and cost-heavy. This inspired us to create a more efficient, secure, and decentralised system to address the challenges face by financial institutions. These include verification inefficiencies, identity fraud risks, and compliance challenges. We have come up with KYCrypt AI, a platform that leverages AI and blockchain technology as our solution.

What it does

KYCrypt AI streamlines KYC processes by combining AI-driven verification with blockchain technology. It validates user identities, ensures privacy through Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), and securely stores cryptographically signed credentials on a private blockchain. The system enables financial institutions to query verified attributes without accessing sensitive personal data, ensuring compliance and mitigating fraud.

How we built it

We designed KYCrypt AI as a conceptual framework integrating:

AI tools for OCR, forgery detection, biometric analysis, and anomaly detection. Blockchain for tamper-proof storage, ZKP generation, and decentralized verification. APIs for seamless communication between financial platforms and the system. Our hypothetical proof of concept outlined how these components work together to solve KYC challenges effectively.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing privacy, scalability, and regulatory compliance is not easy. Designing a system capable of ensuring both data security and seamless interoperability across financial institutions will require extensive planning and innovation.

What we learned

Through this project, we gained valuable insights into the complexities of financial compliance, the power of AI for fraud detection, and the transformative potential of blockchain in identity verification.

What's next for KYCrypt AI

The next steps involve building a functional prototype to conduct real-world testing as well as forming partnerships with financial institutions and regulatory bodies to utilise our platform. Aside from financial institutions, our platform has the potential to be adopted by other industries, such as healthcare and education, to perform a similar role.
