Kuya Walds Filipino Cusine Restaurant Website

This project is dedicated to the local Kuya Walds establishment, which intends to give back in terms of assets to a small business that has contributed to the success of TAMU Philsa.

Inspiration

This restaurant is a significant contributor and sponsor of the Philsa organization of Texas A&M University. When thinking of which small business to create a website for, we believed this business should be the main benefactor of this project.

What it does

This is a restaurant website page for customer viewership

How we built it

Python script to get Yelp images, Website built with Javascript framework, Firebase website hosting.

Challenges we ran into

Yelp had a poor API interface, leading to unnecessary difficulty in automating the process of obtaining Yelp information. Additionally, the Firebase setup was a hurdle that took time to overcome. Javascript sometimes is a difficult language to translate ideas with properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Having a rough framework of our envisioned Kuya website: with additional time to develop, it could easily translate to a unique and sophisticated website for a small business.
