Some of the most important decisions happen in conversations—team meetings, brainstorming sessions, research discussions—but they’re rarely captured in a way that’s usable. We noticed a pattern: • Audio gets recorded but never revisited • Notes are incomplete or inconsistent • Key insights get lost The problem wasn’t recording conversations. The problem was transforming them into intelligence. Kue was built to bridge that gap.
Kue transforms conversations into structured outputs in real time: • One-tap recording • On-device transcription (offline-first) • Speaker identification (multi-speaker support) • Automatic summaries & insights • Action item extraction • Fast, indexed search across recordings • Public sharing (no login required) • Calendar sync with task tracking • Persistent AI conversation memory
How We Built It Kue is built around three key layers:
- On-Device Processing We implemented local transcription to ensure: • Privacy • Offline usability • Reduced latency
- Intelligence Pipeline We process transcripts to extract: • Key ideas • Decisions • Actionable next steps
- Performance & Retrieval We optimized scalability using: • Transcript indexing • Query caching
- Collaboration Layer • Public share links (no friction) • Task syncing with calendar • Team visibility and updates
Challenges We Ran Into Building Kue forced us to solve real product problems quickly:
- Low Conversion Despite High Traffic Users browsed but didn’t sign up. Solution: Persistent CTA → improved conversion.
- Search Performance Breakdown at Scale Search slowed with large datasets. Solution: Indexing + caching → fast retrieval.
- Poor Shared Recording Experience Users thought links were broken due to loading delays. Solution: Immediate visual feedback (loading indicator).
- Passive Features Don’t Drive Engagement Calendar existed but wasn’t useful. Solution: Overdue tasks + real-time accountability.
- Sharing Friction Reduced Adoption Sign-up requirement blocked access. Solution: Public sharing mode.
- Aggressive Conversion Hurt Retention Early sign-in prompts caused drop-off. Solution: Soft, delayed prompts.
- Unreadable Transcripts No speaker labels made transcripts unusable. Solution: Speaker diarization.
- Stateless AI Experience AI lost context between sessions. Solution: Persistent conversation memory.
What We Learned • A working feature ≠ a usable feature • UX details drive real adoption • Speed of iteration matters more than perfection • Removing friction unlocks growth
What’s Next We’re pushing Kue toward: • Deeper AI reasoning across conversations • Cross-session knowledge graphs • Smarter collaboration workflows • Enterprise-grade team intelligence tools
Why Kue Matters Kue doesn’t just record conversations. It transforms them into decisions, actions, and knowledge. Because the most important ideas shouldn’t disappear when the conversation ends.
