Crafting the perfect kudos message in a professional setting can be daunting. Many struggle to find the right words, capture the true impact of someone’s contributions, or align their message with company values—all while spending precious time getting it just right. This challenge sparked the creation of Kudos Snap, an innovative app designed to make recognition effortless, meaningful, and impactful.

What it does

Kudos Snap revolutionizes workplace appreciation by empowering users to send thoughtful, personalized kudos messages in seconds. By tying each message to core organizational values, the app ensures recognition reflects the recipient’s actions and their broader impact. Powered by cutting-edge GenAI, Kudos Snap takes the guesswork out of writing—users simply input the action and impact, and the app generates a polished, professional message ready to share.

How we built it

We kicked off by building a forward-thinking Kotlin Multiplatform project, laying the foundation for seamless expansion to iOS and beyond. For our Minimum Viable Product (MVP), we focused on Android to leverage readily available tools and ensure a smooth launch. Post-release, we’re excited to scale Kudos Snap across multiple platforms, bringing effortless recognition to more users.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating RevenueCat with the Play Store presented a tricky double-billing issue. Our app offers Plus and Elite user tiers, which were mistakenly set up as separate subscriptions. This caused some users to be charged for both tiers simultaneously. We resolved this by consolidating both tiers into a single subscription group, ensuring users can upgrade seamlessly while retaining access to their current tier until the new subscription kicks in.

We’re thrilled to have created an intuitive app that simplifies workplace recognition while amplifying its impact. Successfully integrating GenAI to craft meaningful kudos messages, mastering in-app purchases with RevenueCat, and implementing robust authentication via Supabase are milestones we’re incredibly proud of. Above all, we’re excited to empower teams to celebrate their colleagues with ease and authenticity.

The future of Kudos Snap is bright! We’re gearing up to launch an iOS version to reach more users, followed by a web version for ultimate accessibility. We’re also excited to introduce group kudos, enabling teams to share recognition within private, meaningful circles—without turning it into a social network. Our mission is to make workplace appreciation effortless, inclusive, and impactful across all platforms.
