What it does

Kual. notes is an AI-driven journaling tool that uses your journal entries to analyze your emotions.

How we built it

Kual. Notes was built using React.js and Python, utilizing the natural language processing toolkit to analyze text entries and uses a deep learning model to process your entries and return the emotion that is most prevalent.

Our team wanted to make use of Symbl.ai's sentiment analysis APIs to help us in analyzing user emotions. The output of the Symbl.ai API would determine the type of recommendation made by our virtual assistant. Due to time constraints, we had to resort to a different resource for implementing sentiment analysis, but we plan on implementing Symbl.ai's resources in the future to create more accurate responses

Challenges we ran into

Creating a full-stack app that is native on mobile platforms proved to be a difficult task in such a small amount of time, so we shifted our focus to quickly prototyping how our UI/UX design for mobile would look like using Figma and prioritized completing the web application version of our product. While deploying the Flask API, we ran into the issue of memory availability constraints from our hosting environment.

What's next for Kual. Notes

For our next steps, we hope to port over our web application to the mobile market. After we’ve completed that step, we hope to start applying the data analytics on a broader range to read through other data sources such as your text messages, social media habits, sleeping routine. Because we can analyze information on a more multifaceted scale, we can give more accurate responses and reach a larger audience.
