The problem your project solves

Primary and Secondary students with low success face enormous problems when confined at home due to Covid-19, or other relevant health or physical limitations. Being isolated means lack of teachers and colleagues support, and affects seriously the self motivation to face challenges, identify clear objectives to achieve, and to focus on the right pathway to follow. And they feel forgotten and alone. Parents also face enormous problems when asked to take over some of the teachers' roles, as they can’t identify key educational objectives, and the right educational resources to be used, when frequently they are also confined at home and trying to ensure their remote job functions.

The solution you bring to the table

The WithU solution enables Schools, Teachers and Education Management Entities, to implement Student Success Optimization Projects providing professional Tutorial and/or Mentoring support services to students based on a ready to use and flexible digital software platform.

The WithU solution includes a state of the art app designed to be used by Teachers, Tutors, Mentors, Students and Parents, to register and view key information regarding:

  • Student profile and specific support needs
  • Tutors and/or Mentors mapping with Student profile and needs
  • Key Education Objectives and Action Plan to be achieved
  • Tasks to be performed by Students
  • Scores on students performance on tasks
  • Personal success progress assessment by Tutors and Mentors
  • Direct contact availability between Students, Tutors, Mentors and Parents
  • Collection of feedback from Parents regarding Students behaviour, help requests, satisfaction and success with the project
  • Real time availability of Student Key Success Indicators, and Impact Analysis of the actions performed

What you have done during the weekend

  • Research: The ETI (Técnico - University of Lisbon) mentoring project

The portuguese Engineering Technical Institute created, in 1996, a Mentoring program focused on providing support to students in their early stages in the Courses. Mentors are elder students, supported by Tutors, who are available to enable a facilitated onboarding experience. The outcome of the program is well appreciated, and highly scored, in a phase of transition students face between the secondary school and the quite demanding engineering learning and assessment experience of the first two years of any course in this University. Pedro Veiga, one the KSTK team members, was part of the second phase development of the software platform that supports this project, considered an inspiration for WithU.

  • The KSTK Predictive Education Solution

The KSTK Predictive Education Solution is a decision support system software platform that delivers key Education Indicators to education managers, teachers and students. The quality of the information available is crucial to provide key information regarding evaluation and success scores of students and trending paths for the near future results. The KSTK tem members experience of implementing this platform in Municipalities, and for all their public schools, reveals the strong need for a solution like WithU, as a fundamental tool for reinforcing connections with students and incrementing success.

The solution's impact to the crisis

The WithU solution will ensure a live and constant connection with Students in a digital user friendly environment, improving Quality Education, in a context of a focused and individual education project targeted to deliver better student motivation and success, with analytically proved impact.

The necessities in order to continue the project

The KSTK team involved in the project would welcome potential business partners and worldwide education organizations collaboration on the definition of the project going to market analysis and action plan.

The value of your solution(s) after the crisis

Life after the actual crisis will never be the same as before the crisis. The need for using digital resources always available to support Education, together with all the developments of new resources and technologies that will happen, will not only be maintained, but significantly reinforced, The WithU solution is coming to stay!

The KSTK WithU project created an enormous enthusiasm in the company, as we all recognise the terrible impact of the crisis in the students success and motivation. My main role is to focus on the solution definition and business plan, aligned with the Education market needs and challenges. KSTK WithU will complement the KSTK product and services offer for Education, and contribute to keep Students in contact, aligned with objectives and tasks, and to strongly help Parents on their new critical role of monitoring and supporting learning activities.
