Kryp-Toes

As you buy more coins, you see memes that show whether you've gained profit or lost profit (clown = lost money, wrestler = gained money)!
The more 'extreme' the meme, the more money gained or lost!

Inspiration

Our inspiration was drawn from the ongoing "hype" and "meme-ification" of finance

What it does

Stores the cryptocurrencies in your portfolio, along with their respective purchase price, amount of coin you hold and their actual value, this database is accessed to present the loss or gain of your investment with a meme. Additionally the app allows you to change how much of the crypto currency you hold

How we built it

Built with python using Tkinter for the gui, and sqlite for the database

Challenges we ran into

Some issues collaborating on github and difficulties getting the user interface to behave consistently

Accomplishments that we're proud of

First time building any kind of app for some of us, and the app does behave as planned in some regards

What we learned

Was a good learning experience on the importance of having steps in building an app

I worked on the back-end using SQLite to manage user account data as well as portfolio management. I also utilized CoinMarketCap API to pull the latest cryptocurrency data. In the front end using Tkinter, I helped implemented the buy and sell features and link these functions with the back end.
