Inspiration

We wanted a time management tool that didn’t make us feel like we were racing the clock. Most apps focus on tracking hours and minutes, which can be rigid and stressful. We asked: what if planning your day felt more like balancing your energy than watching the time? That question led us to Kronus, and we personally want something like this for ages..

What it does

Kronus lets users plan their day using percentage blocks instead of time. You assign specific hours to a task and Kronus automatically converts it into percentage of your day to different categories—like 30% for meetings, 20% for deep work, 10% for breaks. This makes it easy to spot imbalances and adjust your priorities with a quick glance.

How we built it

We used modern web tools including Next.js for the frontend, Tailwind CSS for styling, and Zustand for state management. The interface is clean and fast, designed for quick input and real-time feedback.Data is stored on Supabase and with cloud sync in the roadmap, we also use Supabase for auth.

Challenges we ran into

Switching from time-based to percentage-based thinking wasn't just a design change—it meant reworking how people interact with their schedules. We had to rethink defaults, UI patterns, and even how we label time blocks. Getting the interaction model right took several iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a scheduling tool that feels calm and easy to use. People who've tried it say it helps them understand their day more clearly and manage their focus better. We're proud that Kronus offers something different from the usual productivity grind.

What we learned

Simplifying something doesn’t mean making it less powerful. By reducing friction in planning, we made it easier for users to reflect on how they spend their time. Also, visuals matter—users respond well to the percentage-based layout because it’s easy to scan and act on.

What's next for Kronus

We’re working on features like analytics over time, team-based planning, and smart suggestions based on your habits. We also plan to launch a mobile version, so users can manage their time on the go. Long term, we want Kronus to be a quiet companion for better work-life balance.
