What it does

Inspiration

Modern NAS systems provide powerful storage capabilities, but finding, understanding, and organizing large collections of documents can still require significant manual effort.

I created KRONARYX NAS Intelligence to explore how AI could transform network-attached storage from a passive file repository into an intelligent knowledge workspace.

My goal is to make document discovery and analysis more accessible, efficient, and privacy-conscious.

What it does

KRONARYX NAS Intelligence is an AI Skill designed for the UGREEN AI NAS ecosystem.

It defines a read-only workflow intended to help users:

  • Explore and inventory authorized NAS documents.
  • Analyze document content and generate contextual summaries.
  • Provide answers grounded in available document references.
  • Identify potential duplicate files for further review.
  • Handle incomplete results and unsupported operations safely.

The approach prioritizes authorized access and human control over stored information.

How I built it

I developed the project as an extension of my existing KRONARYX IA platform.

The solution includes a UGREEN-oriented AI Skill, a modular NAS adapter, and a dedicated NAS Intelligence dashboard.

I used the official UGREEN Skill Development Kit version 0.7.3 to validate the Skill's structure.

The application uses Next.js, React, TypeScript, and established authentication and authorization mechanisms.

I also used Codex as an AI-assisted development tool for implementation, code review, debugging, and documentation.

Challenges I ran into

The main challenge was designing an AI workflow that respects file permissions and does not introduce unsafe storage operations.

I also addressed Content Security Policy issues involving Next.js hydration scripts and request-specific nonces.

Another challenge was preparing a compliant Skill without access to physical UGREEN NAS hardware.

Accomplishments

  • Created a Skill that passed UGREEN's static validation with zero errors and warnings.
  • Developed a dedicated NAS Intelligence interface.
  • Implemented a safe, unconfigured adapter that prevents unsupported NAS operations.
  • Validated selected authentication, authorization, and security scenarios using isolated test data.
  • Prepared a compliant first-round submission package.

What I learned

This project strengthened my experience with AI workflow design, secure document access, modular architectures, and defensive software development.

I learned the importance of distinguishing static validation from actual hardware compatibility.

What's next

If selected as a finalist, I plan to test the Skill on the provided UGREEN NAS environment, validate agent interactions and document permissions, improve the workflow based on real execution results, and further develop its integration with KRONARYX IA.

Current status: The Skill has passed static validation. Real NAS execution and compatibility have not yet been verified.
