Inspiration

Agriculture is the backbone of our country, but so many farmers lose their crops simply because they can't get an expert to diagnose a plant disease in time. I wanted to create a tool that puts a smart plant doctor directly into a farmer's pocket. The biggest hurdle in rural farming areas is poor network connectivity, so I built KrishiDrishti AI with an offline-first mindset, ensuring that a "Leaf Check" can still happen even if there's no internet.

What it does

KrishiDrishti AI is a web app designed for super fast, on-the-go crop health checks. A user can open it up on their phone, input basic field details, and scan an unhealthy leaf to figure out what's wrong. Because the logic runs locally, it’s built specifically to function out in remote fields without crashing due to a lost cellular signal.

How we built it

I designed the frontend with a high-contrast dark theme so farmers can easily see the interface under bright sunlight. To launch it globally, I deployed the application on Vercel And for now it runs a sample test analysing for wheat in Hindi or English

Challenges we ran into

As a solo developer pushing my project live, I ran into some technical hurdles regarding hosting costs, security configurations, and setting up the presentation. To solve these, I collaborated with an AI assistant (Gemini) Together, we worked through: Verifying and securing the app's SSL/TLS certificates (issued via Google Trust Services) to ensure full HTTPS encryption. Refining the presentation materials and visual concept prompts for the project

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am incredibly proud that I didn't just leave this project sitting on my local machine. I successfully deployed KrishiDrishti AI to a live, public URL (krishidrishti-psi.vercel.app) that anyone can open on their phone right now. I successfully configured and verified enterprise grade HTTPS security for the app using an SSL certificate issued by Google Trust Services. Creating a technical tool that targets a real world problem helping farmers diagnose crop issues in areas with terrible internet connection and building it with an offline-friendly focus is something I am deeply proud of.

What we learned

Building this project taught me how to optimize web assets so they run properly on mobile hardware without constantly relying on a database or server. Working alongside AI as a coding partner really opened my eyes to how quickly a single developer can take an idea, secure it to professional production standards, and ship it to the public.

What's next for KrishiDrishti

Language barriers shouldn't stop a farmer from saving their crops. I've added multi language support, starting with major regional Indian languages, and willing to add more regional languages so the user interface is completely accessible to all farmers I want to integrate lightweight API checks that fetch real-time weather forecasts and soil health tips tailored to the user's specific region, giving farmers a comprehensive crop-care dashboard.
