Inspiration
KRISHI MITRA was inspired by the real-world challenges faced by farmers in India. Many farmers struggle with crop diseases, unpredictable weather, lack of instant expert guidance, and fluctuating market prices. We wanted to create a smart and accessible AI-powered platform that could help farmers make better decisions directly from their smartphones. Our goal was to combine technology and agriculture to improve productivity and reduce losses.
What it does
KRISHI MITRA is an AI-powered agricultural assistant that provides: 🌱 AI-based crop disease detection using image analysis 💬 Smart AI chatbot for farming guidance 🌦 Real-time weather forecasting 📈 Mandi price tracking for crops 🔔 Farm alerts and recommendations 🌍 Multilingual and user-friendly interface The platform acts like a digital farming companion that supports farmers throughout the farming lifecycle.
How we built it
We built KRISHI MITRA using modern web and AI technologies: Frontend: Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS Backend & Database: Supabase AI/ML: TensorFlow and AI APIs for crop analysis Deployment: Vercel The AI model processes crop images and predicts diseases while the chatbot provides intelligent recommendations based on user queries and farming conditions.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was integrating AI features with real-time performance while keeping the platform lightweight and easy to use. Training and connecting crop disease detection models required proper datasets and optimization. We also faced challenges in handling multilingual support and designing a simple interface for farmers with limited technical experience.
