Inspiration 💡
The creator economy has experienced massive growth in recent years. With 50 million people identyfying as "creators", small and big businesses are investing more of their marketing budget in content creator partnerships to take hold of this growing opportunity.
However, many creators today aren't fully banked as their work is not fully recognised as a job. This means that creators miss out on accessing key financial tools which could help them grow their platforms such as credit cards, loans, insurance, wallets and more. Furthermore, traditional tools tailored torwards people with regular jobs often don't work for creators. These include insurance products, medical care, wealth management, and more.
To solve this issue, I built KreativeKorner. A fully inclusive super platform built for creators on Rapyd's payment latform. Packed with exciting features such as Cash Advance, Income Protection Insurance, Rapyd Shares and more, Kreative Korner aims to help creators grow not only themselves but their platforms as well.

I built quite a number of features into the application. Here is breakdown of what is included in the app.
My Top Features
Rapyd Embed: A super feature inside a super app
Rapyd Embed: Initially Rapyd Embed was meant for creators who sold their products on marketplace but I've since expanded it's scope to all online businesses who use Rapyd. I believe that the future of checkouts will see more and more businesses seeking ways of integrating different products and services in the customer checkout journey to reduce fragmantation in the purchasing journey. Often when a customer is purchasing products from an international seller, they don't have access to key services and products such as Buy Now Pay Later, Insurance, and many others. This can often result in the customer having to go through different service providers for the same purchasing journey which can reduce confidence. This can also have an impact on merchants who lose customers because of this fragmantation.
Rapyd Embed is a super checkout platform which allows Rapyds customers to offer key services and products to their end users as they checkout. Rapyd Embed draws inspiration from Rapyd's business model which has seen tremendous success for them so far. That is to create and build a super-platform that integrates with different industries and local service providers which would allow developers to easily integrate functionality all without having to worry about regulatory issues or managing relationships with those partners and service providers. I wanted to create a platform that could see Rapyds customers scale globally allowing them to invest in expansion and focus more on growth.
When a customer is buying a phone, they no longer have to go through different service providers to get buy now pay later, insurance and telecom services for that phone as well. Rapyd Embed will embed all of those in the Rapyd Customers checkout all without them having to worry about partnering with different service providers or worrying about regulation from the country the end user is purchasing from. Rapyd Embed is great for Rapyd as it can attract new businesses who want to have an edge over their competitors by offering more services and products for their end users. It's great for Rapyd Customers as they can attract more end users with Rapyds Embedded services and it is also great for the end user as they can gain access to services and products which would establish trust and an increased chance in completing the checkout journey.
Rapyd Embed focuses on partnering with different service providers from different countries to offer (Value added services) VAS-as-a-Service solutions to Rapyds global customers. What this means is that a business that sells smartphones in the USA can offer embedded insurance products to a customer based in Singapore using the Singaporean local insurance provider. They can also offer insurance and extended warranty products from local service providers using the Rapyd Embed Api. A business that sells hotel rooms can now offer travel insurance, health cover and flight tickets all in one checkout. A business that sells flights tickets can now offer their customers virtual cards which they can use when in layover airports. The use cases are endless.
Rapyd Interest Bearing Wallet: For many businesses, it may be necessary for them to keep funds in their wallets in the event that a customer wants a refund or that business needs to pay a supplier or issue vouchers. However this can often be a problem when the money is just sitting in the wallet and not growing. A lot of the time, as a business you need your money to grow for you even when it's just sitting around. Rapyd Interest Bearing Wallet is a feature I developed which aims to fix this problem. It does so by creating a second wallet which businesses can transfer money into. The money in this wallet can be used however the difference between this and the normal wallet is that this one accumlates money over time which is great for businesses who often have lots of money lying around in their wallets waiting to be used.

Borrowing
Cash Advance: As creators work with companies, payments can get become delayed which is not great for their cash flow especially when they need money to create content. Cash Advance gives them access to funds easily and quickly. Money is paid out using Rapyd Disburse and collected again in 30 days using Rapyd Subscriptions.
Personal Loan: If a creator has a good RapydScore, they can apply for a personal loan from a partner. They can then use the money to grow their platform by buying equipment or investing in better content. Personal loans are paid out using Rapyd Disburse and money is collected every month using Rapyd Collect's subscription API. This is paired with the payment method api which stores their payment details for automatic billing.
Home/Car Loan: Using RapydScore, we showcase how a creator can apply for a car or home loan based on their transaction ativity.
Insurance
Income Protection Insurance: Income protection insurance works by partnering with local financial service providers to offer creators the opportunity to protect their income in the event something happens to them. If they get injured they will be able to continue earning money that they depended on when they could create content. This is great for full time creators who don't have pension funds or savings. This feature uses Rapyds Collect, Rapyd Wallet and Rapyd Disburse API.
Platform Insurance: In the event that a creators platform whether it's YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, etc get's compromised or suspended, they can lose money. Further more, if anything happens to their equipment their income would be compromised. Platform Insurance aims to protect creators against any unforseen circumstances that may arise by insuring their platforms and their devices. If a creators platform is hacked for example, they will lose money so Platform Insurance will cover them and pay them until they can find their feet again. This feature uses Rapyds Collect Subscription for the monthly fee, Rapyds Disburse Subscriptions when a user claims and Rapyd Wallet.
Healthcare
- Short Term Medical Cover: As creators may not have a stable income, it can be incredibly difficult for them to afford healthcare. This feature aims to bridge the gap for creators by offering them short term medical insurance which covers them in the event of an emergency. This service is particulalry useful to creators who don't have consistent income stream. They can pay for 3 months medical cover. This service uses Rapyd Collect Subscriptions as well as Rapyd Disburse to payout when a creator wants to claim.
Ecommerce
Kreative Rent: When creators are starting out, they often don't have access to the kind of equipment or spaces that bigger creators have. This can be discouarging to most as sometimes the equipment they need is out of reach. KreativeRent aims to solve that by allowing creators to rent equipment from Rapyd Partners or other creators. They can use this equipment to grow their platforms and establish themselves. All they have to do is pay a monthly fee for that product or service using Rapyds Collect Subscription API.
Kreative Shop: Creators can list and buy products from other creators and Rapyd Partners.
Tools
Rapyd Shares: More often than not small creators find themselves in a position where they need to obtain new growth but they can't due to financial restrctions. Rapyd Shares allows creators to offer their fans a chance to purchase shares in their platform. This would allow creators to raise money for their platforms which could help them grow and establish themselves. Creators can also offer dividends payouts using Rapyd Disburse. These dividends would be paid out when a creator collaborates with a company for a sponsorship. That sponsorship money would then be split with the platform Shareholders. This would also present fans with a chance to own a stake in a growing platform. Dividends would be paid out using Rapyd Disburse and the shares will be bought using Rapyd Collect.
Rapyd Score: Rapyd Score a credit score like feature which looks at a Rapyd Customers wallet and transactions to determine if whether if their wallet is in good standing. Customers who have a high score will be able to apply for borrowing products. Customers can also export this score which includes their transactions and behavioral patterns and they can use it to apply for loans from external service providers. They can use this as further proof of their income to obtain loans which may help their businesses or lives.
Rapyd Rewards: Rapyd Rewards allows creators to connect their various platforms with KreativeKorner which would allow them to see their top fans from the respective platforms. Fans who have a high number of engagements will recieve rewards from Rapyd such as coupons and discounts as well as virtual cards loaded with money. Using Rapyd this is possible.
Rapyd Analytics: Rapyd Analytics allows creators who sell products on their websites to easily advertise some of their best selling products. It works by connecting to Canva and the various advertising platforms (Google Ads, YouTube Ads, Instagram Ads, etc). A creator can view their best performing products, create a series of posters using Canva and push those posters to advertising platforms all with one button. This is a great feature for sellers as it means thet do not have to do all this themselves. This feature also connects with your Rapyd Wallet allowing you to set a budget.
Instant Colab: Instant Colab is a hosted checkout which allows creators to post the links on their platforms. People or businesses who want to collaborate with creators can easily click on the link that creators have shared, fill out a form and make an escrow payment to the creator. Once they have made the payment, the creator will recieve the partnership request and only once they have completed the work requested they will recieve the money. This is great for automating the process of collaboration and eliminates the possibliy that a creator might miss a collaboration email.
MyPaymentCards: Creators can add their payment cards on this page which they can use for any feature on the app which uses subscriptions.
KreativePay: Creators can pay bills using Rapyd Disburse
VanCollections: Creators can accept payments from international businesses by creating virtual account numbers which are local to that business. This is a great way for creators to establish a relationship with potential businesses as they don't have to worry about the payment aspect of it.
Beneficaries: Creators can add themselves, their friends, family or employees as beneficiaries. Beneficiaries can be used across the app. A beneficairy can recieve payments from services such as insurance payouts, loan payouts, etc.

Value to Rapyd 💰
One of the key features I developed is Rapyd Embed. This featue could be valuable to Rapyd as they seek to attract new customers onto the platform and have an edge over their competitors. Many Fintech companies focus on providing a great payment experience but miss out on providing an even better buying experience through embedded value-added services. I believe that Rapyd Embed could bridge this gap and extend their lead in the FinTech space.
How I Built It
KreativeKorner was built with the follwing
- Rapyd: For the payments infrastructure
- Flutterflow: A lowcode platform which allows you to build apps incredibly fast
- Spring: I used Spring to create the API layer for KreativeKorner
- AWS: I used AWS to host my Spring application as well as domain name
- Firebase: I used Firebase as an additional data layer as well as for Authentication and notifications
Challenges we ran into
When building a super, there's bound to be so many issues as you're trying to build as many features into the platform as you possibly can. You also struggle deciding between having quality features or just a truckload of them. However I believe I managed to find a balance by focusing on a specific industry which greatly reduced the scope of the project. It meant that I could focus on building solutions tailored to that industry although most of those features could be used outside of it as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One thing I'm definitely proud of is managing to build a solution with so little days as I joined the hackathon late. The hack was tough but managing to integrate Rapyds APIs and to build so many cool features is something that I'm proud of.
What's next for KreativeKorner
Out of all the features I've built Rapyd Embed is my favourite one. I plan on developing this feature further but perhaps on a smaller scale by building for Africa only using Rapyds API as well. I belive that this feature has the necessary potential to become big especially in a commerce space where there isn't much innovation happening. It would also really be great for customers as now more of us can have more confidence buying internationally. If I were to place in the hackathon I would use some of the prize money to fund this feature and grow it even more.
I plan to do this by making it an API first feature which customers can integrate into their own checkout. I would then also offer solutions such as wordpress plugins, etc. From a partners perspective, I would partner with local service providers from different countries to allow international sellers to offer their products on checkout.
