"Kothai Jabo?" was inspired by a simple everyday problem: people often face civic issues but do not know where to go, whom to contact, or what steps to take.
We built a "Bangla-first AI action assistant" that lets users describe their problem naturally. Gemini analyzes the problem, identifies missing information, determines the appropriate next step, and can generate a formal complaint or application. We also added voice support to make the experience more accessible.
The biggest thing we learned was how to use "Gemini beyond a basic chatbot"—as a reasoning engine that can understand unstructured problems and turn them into actionable solutions. We also learned how to rapidly prototype and debug an end-to-end AI application using Google AI Studio.
One of our main challenges was ensuring that the AI "doesn't assume or invent important information", such as a user's location or the responsible authority. We addressed this by designing the workflow to ask for missing information and prioritize verified information.
To sum up, "Kothai Jabo?" aims to make navigating everyday public services simpler: "Tell us your problem, find your next step."
