Inspiration

Every small business needs a mobile app today, but custom development costs thousands of dollars and takes months. We wanted to make it possible for anyone to turn their existing website into a real native Android app without hiring a developer.

What it does

KotApp converts any website into a native Android app (APK/AAB). Users get push notifications, custom branding, splash screens, offline support, and native navigation — all without writing a single line of code.

How we built it

KotApp runs on a WordPress-based architecture with a custom WebView wrapper for Android. Payments and licensing are handled through Freemius, and the whole build pipeline is designed to generate a ready-to-publish APK/AAB in minutes.

Challenges we ran into

Making the WebView wrapper feel truly native — handling offline states, deep links, and push notifications reliably across different website structures — took a lot of iteration.

What we learned

Balancing simplicity for non-technical users with enough flexibility (custom branding, add-ons) for power users is harder than it looks.

What's next for KotApp

iOS support is on the roadmap, along with more customization options and marketplace integrations.
