Inspiration
We were inspired by the current pandemic and wanted to find a way to make light of our situation. We did this by creating a fun game everyone could enjoy!
What it does
It is a side scrolling game in which the character has to stay alive for as long as possible. He loses health if he touches a virus, but gains health if he touches a mask. He can also shoot viruses with vaccines to avoid colliding with them.
How we built it
We used python and pygame to build this game
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we faced were related to getting the continuously scrolling background to work, resizing all the sprites and making the viruses appear randomly
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that our game works like we originally intended it to, and that we were able to also add music, which was an extra step.
What we learned
We learned about a lot of pygame functionality: for example, how to move characters, make them appear randomly, and collide with each other. Since this was our first hackathon we also gained a lot of new experience working together and participating in all the events!
What's next for KoronaKiller
We're excited to build more projects and participate in more hackathons in the future!
