Inspiration

I wanted a better way to learn Korean

What it does

It's designed to just give someone an initial overview of Korean Hangul characters as well as generate lessons based off their interests.

How we built it

I built entirely in lovable with ElevenLabs and Fal's API is used as well.

Challenges we ran into

I really struggled with lovable at a certain point. It was helpful getting initially off the ground, but once the codebase got bigger, beyond 50-75 commits/messages. Really felt that it kept going in circles and lost a lot of time, but I think the beauty of a hackathon is that there wasn't a need to move off lovable. And in the future, I would probably use it for some initial ideation and then once I ran into this issue, I would just move to a different development platform locally. But it was really helpful with setting up databases and having broad-level security.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finally, building something that takes in an AI API to generate content with OpenAI. as well as using ElevenLabs and Fal's APIs.

What we learned

Just how to use APIs and get a better sense of the challenges of building a language app.

What's next for KoreanPal

I'd like to reassess kind of what was built and probably use the database as a basis, but then start from complete scratch with generating new content and new ideas.
