Inspiration

KOPai was born out of a familiar exam-season struggle. Tabs open everywhere. PDFs on one side. YouTube lectures paused halfway. Screenshots buried in your gallery. Notes scattered across notebooks. Highlighters bleeding through textbook pages. And in the middle of it all......anxiety.

The real problem wasn’t a lack of resources. It was too many, disconnected ones. We weren’t learning, we were Switching tabs. Re-finding timestamps. Rewriting the same notes. Trying to decide what actually mattered.

We realized this wasn’t just our experience. Every student we spoke to described the same chaos, especially during exams. Some needed speed. Others needed depth.

That’s when KOPai began.

What it does

KOPai is a multimodal AI Study Hub that adapts to your timeline. Students upload PDFs, YouTube lectures or images and it transforms them into structured, intelligent study materials.

It offers: Quick Mode for last-minute revision — concise summaries, snapshot quizzes, and ready-to-print cheat sheets. Comprehensive Mode for deep learning — full AI-generated study books, detailed explanations, checkpoint quizzes, and progress tracking. A context-aware AI Helper Chat that explains, gives examples, and saves notes directly into your margin. Instead of switching between five apps, everything lives in one focused, distraction-free space designed for efficient learning.

How we built it

We built KOPai using multimodal AI pipelines that extract concepts from PDFs, video transcripts, and images. Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), the system grounds explanations directly in the user’s uploaded materials, ensuring relevance and accuracy. We designed two adaptive learning modes powered by: 1.Structured concept chunking 2.Dynamic summarization engines 3.Quiz generation tied to extracted topics 4.Context-aware AI chat embedded into the reading interface The experience was intentionally modeled after how students naturally study but enhanced with intelligence and automation.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was balancing speed and depth without compromising quality. Quick summaries couldn’t feel shallow. Comprehensive explanations couldn’t feel overwhelming. Another challenge was contextual accuracy. Generic AI responses weren’t enough, students need explanations grounded in their material. Implementing reliable RAG pipelines and maintaining citation alignment required careful design and iteration.

What we learned

We learned that students don’t struggle because they’re lazy. They struggle because their tools are fragmented. We learned that context matters more than raw AI power. And we learned that effective learning isn’t just about information, it’s about clarity, structure, and momentum. When students feel organized, they feel confident.

Our vision is simple: To become the intelligent layer between students and information, transforming chaos into clarity, and anxiety into confidence.
