Currently, existing pro-bono services do not provide ample time for lawyers to review the cases of applicants. As such, our application strives to minimize the time spent on acquiring basic facts and giving basic advice by allowing applicants of pro-bono services to provide details of their legal issues and make it easily accessible to the pro-bono lawyers before the day of consultation.
The first main feature of our application is a consolidation of a few legal-help websites to allow applicants to easily access these websites where they can acquire basic legal advice before submitting their enquiries about their legal issues. Thereafter, they will be able to give basic details that are unique to their case. Accordingly, this reduces the time spent to acquire such facts during the consultation. The websites also allow for applicants to more easily file for any applications after receiving legal advice through their consultation.
Second, is a database which stores the details of the applicants’ case, allowing the rostered lawyer to view the case beforehand. Through a log-in interface, applicants can log-in to schedule appointments at a pro-bono clinic and thereafter, input their personal details and details of their legal issue. In respect of the lawyers’ log-in, lawyers will be able to schedule appointments for themselves in advance and, subsequently, they will be able to view the number of applicants for the day and the details of their legal issue. This allows such information to be viewed beforehand hence, making each consultation more worthwhile.
Collectively, the main features of our application eliminates the step of asking general questions, saving a substantial amount of time during consultation. With this time saved, the lawyer can more quickly and accurately assess the applicant’s situation and thus provide more targeted advice, allowing each session to be more effective.
