Kong - A smart discord bot similar to Alexa/google home

The bot behaves very much like a companion with the ability to receive member joining the server, greeting hi/hello/sup or bye. Can also play music with search, pause, resume, stop and queue commands.

Kong was inspired by it's predecessors Rythm and Groovy, who were bots who could play music in discord using youtube API. Kong is much more than just a music bot.

Kong has multiple features. He is always there throughout the users journey. Right from onboarding the user with rules and regulations, greeting them when the join and when they leave. i.e Hi/Hello or Bye/Goodbye. He has the ability to give roles to users in the server, also banning or kicking them out when the violate the rules and regulations.

I've built him using Autocode, an API providing software. Specifically end points for integration. He was programmed using Node.js

Huge chunk of the build went very smooth but due to some endpoint issue, the function for queing songs wasn't functioning. I've tried to fix it by reaching out to the company, watching tutorials and also asking help in the discord server, after spending about 4 hours straight I've decided to tackle him after the event. As other tasks require immediate attention.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of are sticking through the whole process and never giving up, constantly trying different permutations and combinations and putting him together properly. The effort really makes me smile with a light heart.

I've learned that nothing is impossible. It just takes a few tries until you hit bang on!!!. Even though things felt difficult I never left the challenge.

What's next for Kong - A smart discord bot similar to Alexa/google home. Evolution as i like to call. He's going to be much more polished and become a artificial super intelligence bot. With added emotion and rationality making him much more like us humans.
