Inspiration

I needed a tool to optimize multiple image and video files at the same time, and I didn't want to give my files to shady websites or corporations. So I built a tool that could do it for me, using Rust

What it does

After drag-and-dropping an image file into it, you can resize, crop, add filters or just optimize it. It spawns a worker thread and processes images using multiple rust crates and WebAssembly

How we built it

built an MVP/design with bolt, and extended it using a pnpm monorepo and three packages: The UI, a core module for managing projects, extracting file metadata etc. And a module that wraps the rust code and compiles it to WASM

Challenges we ran into

WebWorker and WASM support for legacy browsers (and firefox), Learning rust xD

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Image processing worked very quickly! It's not optimized, but multiple images process in parallel and it's quite fast.
