Fix the on-boarding problem.
Make it understandable.
Keep the user engaged.
Kompis (Swedish for friend, pal) is a friendly personal money management application powered by the Nordea open banking APIs.
We make saving and investing easier and more intuitive by keeping track of your day-to-day finances. Kompis offers instant insights and ways to set a little bit of money aside every day.
To banks and financial institutions Kompis offers a channel for offering financial instruments such as ETFs or funds.
98% of Finns have savings in a bank account. They don't necessarily have a plan for saving, and even if they do, they don't stick to it. Increasing engagement and helping people save money is key in customer satisfaction.
What it does
Kompis enables the average citizen to save money for short and long term goals. The application also gives helpful suggestions based on your personal spending habits lowering the threshold to start investing.
We enable the customer to set money aside every month. Kompis also invites the customer to invest a similar amount when making non-essential purchases.
How we built it
Our team storyboarded the app in Sketch and built style guides and wireframes. These were implemented as a React.js browser application.
The app is developed in-browser, using device emulation views. This turned out to be a very nice approach for rapid development.
Challenges we ran into
The greatest challenge was doing market research in order to understand which features create the most value for our customers.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting a working prototype ready in very nearly record time!
What's next for Kompis
- Technical and UX improvements for the application.
- First public release, accompanied by marketing campaigns in the Nordics and Baltics.
