Inspiration
At heart, Knowing Yourself is a neat app made for you to keep track of the things that matter. Mental health is something that we feel passionate about, and something that is very important to us. Writing is often a way many people escape the world. It can tell almost anything about a person, even their hidden emotions. Sometimes these emotion can be unnoticed and cause inter turmoil. They can grow and manifest into something larger and more dangerous. That's why we have created KnowYourself.
What it does
KnowYourself is an application that analyses writing and picks up on emotive words. It then keeps track of these words and provides analysis on a daily basis. If it notices a large amount of negative feelings over a sustained time, KnowYourself will provide external resources for you to get help, or learn how to safely process those emotions and feelings.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a problem with the coding aspect, as we had a lot of ideas and not enough time to include them all. The UI and UX were also challenging to design.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of what we have accomplished together, and what we have done so far. Teamwork and collaboration is not always easy, especially when communication is skewed due to time differences, but we made it work. We are proud of the ideas we came up with, and how we integrated them into our project. We are proud for constantly working on our code, even when it got tough.
What we learned with Figma
Figma helped the designers communicate with the developers. The developers learned Figma and were able to leverage it to create simple lo-fi wireframes. With this visual communication, the hi-fi prototype was created, which the developers were then able to use as a visual guide.
Figma has rough code snippets for sizing and with plugins like Anima or Zeplin, developers can have even more assisting information, making the design to minimum viable prototype journey very smooth.
Later, we learned how to use plugins like autoflow to speed up this process. To fill in avatars, we alternated between trying avatars and content reel, while exploring Unsplash. Figma’s plug-in community is amazing and the powerful plugins can really change your workflow for the better.
What's next for KnowYourself
We regret that we were not able to conduct user research, make user stories, or affinity diagrams with our limited time. In the future, we would want to conduct user interviews and competitive analysis, identifying gaps in the market which we can improve on.
Stay tuned for our minimum viable prototype, and make sure to take care of yourself.
