We were thinking about how we could have a positive impact on the things we do almost every day.

What it does

It takes a picture when the camera recognises that a person is nearby, this is sent to the owner's email address (for example handy when on holiday). Additionally, a small LCD panel is positioned next to the door so you can see who's outside.

How we built it

We used the opencv library to do the face recognition. For the rest, we included some code from ourself's to tweak to our preferences and needs. Everything was written in python.

Challenges we ran into

Outdated drivers for raspberry pi LCD screen and finding enough documentation and tutorials on how to build the code we wanted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

How we were able to combine all the different challenges into 1 coherent project.

What we learned

You need a lot of coffee to stay up for 24 hrs.

What's next for Knockknock_who'

Android app; adding users that can unlock door with face; encryption
