Inspiration
This project was inspired by our teams' shared adoration for video games, so naturally the idea was a no-brainer to us. We wanted to give other UCF students a way to share their opinions on the many games out there; thus KnightsGaming was born.
What it does
KnightsGaming allows users to find information on most, if not all, of their favorite games in one place. They can leave reviews on any one of their choice, or simply read the feedback others have already given. Furthermore, users can save any games of their choice to their wishlist for safe-keeping.
How we built it
We went with some popular choices when discussing the options for our tech stack: React for the frontend, and Django (Python) for the backend. We also used the IGDB api made available by Twitch to attain the vital information for the video games.
Challenges we ran into
For most of the team, the tech stack we were using was new, meaning there was a bit of learning to be done before we could jump into the actual work. Naturally, that meant many mistakes were to be made and roadblocks were to be hit before we would have a working product.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
In the development of this project, we learned alot, from the process of connecting a frontend and backed application together, to the way api's (external and rest) would work within our project.
What's next for KnightsGaming
We would like to implement even more features for our app in the future.
