Inspiration
We started working early around 16-17 years old, but never got to learn about compound interest much after it. Compound interest is very powerful in that the earlier you start saving, the more compound you will get on your money. We felt like we never saw the full potential of it because we never had an opportunity to visually see the compounding effect in the long term.
What it does
our project is to give an opportunity to the users to see how their dollars could become multiple dollars with the power of compound effect in just a few years time. We show a graph and table information to show users how their money grows over time.
How we built it
We had never worked on web development, because two of us are from more of an engineering background. But, we wanted to learn something new and do something new. We learned about webdevelopment and learned three languages in 2 days (JavaScript, CSS, and HTML) in order to build the website. The website's structure is built on HTML, Graphics is built on CSS, and our backend is on JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a big challenge when trying to use git to work on the project together as a team. It was a big learning curve because we had never before worked on a team like this on a coding project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud that our first website is up and running. We had not imagined a website that would be so interactive in just two days.
