Technology & Architecture

Klickerim is built as a modern client-server application designed for performance, scalability, and reliability.

The frontend is developed entirely using HTML5, CSS3, and Vanilla JavaScript, providing a lightweight, fast, and responsive user experience without relying on large frontend frameworks.

The backend runs on Node.js 18+ with Express 5, handling authentication, game sessions, business logic, payments, AI requests, phone participation, and communication between all connected users.

Persistent data is stored in MySQL using the mysql2 driver, while local JSON storage is available for development and testing.

Real-time synchronization is powered by Server-Sent Events (SSE), allowing questions, timers, rankings, scoreboards, and live updates to reach every connected participant with minimal latency.

The platform integrates seamlessly with:

System stability is maintained through automated testing using the Node.js Test Runner, integration testing, regression testing, and Playwright across desktop and mobile browsers.

How This Project Started

I started learning programming at the age of 14.

I had no formal teacher or mentor. Everything I learned came from books, blogs, free online tutorials, and countless hours of experimentation.

Over time, I learned new programming languages and technologies while building increasingly ambitious personal projects.

Throughout my learning journey, OpenAI became one of my most valuable learning tools. I frequently used ChatGPT to understand programming concepts, solve coding challenges, and improve my projects.

One day, while visiting the OpenAI website, I discovered Codex for Visual Studio Code.

I installed it immediately and quickly realized its incredible potential.

After experimenting with several smaller projects, I had an idea:

What if anyone could create engaging live quizzes in seconds while allowing participants to join from almost any device—even by making a simple phone call?

That idea became Klickerim.

Over the following months, I spent hundreds of hours designing, developing, testing, and improving the platform together with OpenAI tools, especially Codex and GPT models.

Klickerim is the result of a close collaboration between my vision as a developer and AI-assisted software development.
