Inspiration Kubernetes is an incredibly powerful system for deploying and managing containerized applications, but it can be complex and difficult to debug issues. We were inspired to create Klaude to make it easier for users to understand what's going on in their clusters.
What it does Klaude is an AI assistant that lets you ask questions about your Kubernetes cluster in plain English. It understands queries like "Why isn't my pod running?" or "Show me the events for my deployment". Klaude will generate Python code to query the Kubernetes API and print out an HTML report with the results.
How we built it Klaude is powered by a large language model to understand natural language queries. We used Anthropic Claude to go take in user query and generate Python code that uses the Kubernetes Python client library to execute the query and format the results. We built a web interface using Vue to let users easily ask questions and view the results.
Challenges we ran into It was hard to set up Klaude inside a pod on kubernetes that can talk to the local cluster. Generating valid Python code from natural language was also challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We're proud that Klaude can take ambiguous natural language queries and accurately generate Python code to execute against Kubernetes and return easy to understand results. The interface makes Kubernetes debugging much more accessible.
What we learned We learned a lot about leveraging large language models for code generation. Fine-tuning on the right datasets was crucial to generating valid Python. We also learned Kubernetes intricacies from handling diverse debugging queries.
What's next for Klaude by AI Hero In the future we hope to expand Klaude's capabilities to support querying and debugging a wider range of Kubernetes resources. We also want to integrate Klaude with monitoring and logging pipelines to provide even more insight into cluster issues.
