Inspiration

Digital Piracy. Nowadays, for small-time digital artists, it is very important for them to gain a following online. They do this by posting their work online. It is very easy for any anonymous person to copy and with minimal editing claim their work as theirs.

What it does

The project uses a combination of DWT and DCT techniques to watermark an image. The program is also capable of simulating "Attacks" or degradation of data.

How we built it

Started small with a small implementation of DWT and DCT transform on images, while a teammate worked on the degradation portion of the program. In the end, it was combined together and integrated successfully.

Challenges we ran into

Creating custom images with the right amount of colour channels, adapting the code to images, and working with different formats.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The simulation of compression, noise addition, and the ability of the program to work even with high amounts of data loss.

What we learned

A good understanding of DWT and DCT methods.

What's next for KK

Taking this project forward and perhaps into fields such as the metaverse.
