Inspiration
We wanted to rethink how young athletes understand and improve their performance. Traditional training can focus heavily on individual activities without creating a complete picture of an athlete's development.
We imagined a system that could connect physical performance with digital intelligence—measuring different aspects of development, turning those measurements into understandable performance data, and using that information to create a more personalized training experience.
That idea became KIVO.
What it does
KIVO is a personalized athlete development platform that connects physical activities, assessments, measurements, scoring, and AI-driven adaptation.
Instead of treating performance as one number, KIVO looks at multiple dimensions of development, including:
- Speed
- Strength
- Agility
- Endurance
KIVO transforms these measurements into an athlete profile and uses the results to help create a personalized training path.
The platform connects the athlete experience with a digital progress system:
Physical Activity → Assessment → Measurement → Scoring → AI Adaptation → Personalized Training → Progress
Athletes can see their performance data, understand where they are improving, identify areas that need more development, and follow a progression designed around their results.
How we built it
We built KIVO as an interactive digital platform with two connected experiences: the Child App and the Parent View.
The system is organized around a continuous development pipeline:
Challenges → Performance Data → Scoring + AI → Personalized Training Plan → Progress
We designed the interface to make performance information easy to understand while still providing meaningful data.
KIVO uses performance dimensions such as Speed, Strength, Agility, and Endurance to create a structured athlete profile.
For example, an athlete can receive measurements such as:
Speed: 82 Strength: 68 Agility: 78 Endurance: 54
These values can then be used to identify development patterns and guide the next stage of training.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was turning physical performance into information that could be represented clearly in a digital environment.
We had to think about how to make measurements understandable without overwhelming young athletes or their parents.
Another challenge was designing an adaptive system that feels personalized rather than simply presenting static scores.
We also had to balance a visually engaging experience with clear navigation, meaningful progress information, and a system structure that could eventually support more advanced measurements and AI capabilities.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a system that connects the physical and digital sides of athlete development.
Instead of building only a dashboard or only a collection of exercises, we created a complete concept that connects:
Activities → Assessments → Measurements → Performance Data → Scoring → Personalized Training → Progress
We are also proud of the way KIVO represents multiple dimensions of performance instead of reducing an athlete's development to a single score.
The Child App and Parent View provide different perspectives while remaining connected to the same performance system.
Most importantly, we created a foundation that can grow into a larger adaptive training platform.
What we learned
We learned that personalization is more than adding AI to a product.
A useful personalized system needs meaningful inputs, understandable measurements, clear feedback, and a progression system that connects today's performance to the next action.
We also learned how important it is to design for both the person performing the activity and the people supporting their development.
Building KIVO helped us think more deeply about how physical-world data can become useful digital information.
What's next for KIVO
Our next step is to expand KIVO from a prototype into a more complete performance ecosystem.
We want to explore:
- More types of physical assessments and measurements
- Additional performance dimensions
- Smarter AI-driven training adaptation
- More detailed progress analytics
- Real-time activity and performance tracking
- Stronger connections between physical activities and the digital platform
- More tools for parents and coaches
- Long-term athlete development insights
Our goal is for KIVO to become a system that continuously learns from performance and helps each athlete progress through a training experience adapted to their development.
