Inspiration
With the proliferation of brainrot and doomscrolling these days, one can only wonder why a learning tool that integrates these quintessential aspects of daily life have yet been incorporated. We want to help individuals maximise their absorption of knowledge while minimising boredom. Hence, we have created this easy-to-use learning tool to boost your productivity and help you achieve your true cognitive potential!
What it does
Upload your boring lecture slides, notes, or even copy and paste any content you wish to learn more about. Within a few minutes, Kitty will surprise you with a curated "Kitty Explains" video, simplifying difficult concepts while keeping you entertained. You may also choose your desired video length to suit your attention span!
How we built it
For the frontend, we used Vite React to create a user-friendly interface. Meanwhile, LangGraph was used to orchestrate the different stages of the AI generation pipeline, which included libraries such as FFmpeg to create the videos, Gentle for phonetic transcription, and Whisper for generating subtitles.
Challenges we ran into
We encountered significant difficulties with pip's dependency management, which hindered our efforts to try out different libraries for the project. We also faced challenges generating the video itself, first attempting to use AI models, then we switched to using FFmpeg and lazykh to stitch together the multiple aspects of the video.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of having a working product by the end, despite the challenges we faced and the hours we spent debugging :)
What we learned
We learnt that AI has its limitations, in which case it is necessary to be resourceful and look for alternative methods to solve the same problem.
What's next for Kitty
We would like to accelerate the process of video generation, as well as provide other brainrot formats like Rick and Morty!
