Inspiration
Writing grocery shopping lists on the weekend with my family and brainstorming ideas for meals we would enjoy during the week was the funnest! I wanted to keep that same feeling in the digital experience.
What it does
Kitchen-list creates and stores lists typically made in a kitchen and cooking environment in a digital kitchen for the user. You can create your shopping list or a meal list of all the meals you know how to cook. Make the process of planning and shopping easy and fun!
How we built it
Freeform, PNGTree, Vecteezy, Figma, Youtube, Blender, Keynote
I started with Freeform building the idea, I like to use freeform for ideas creating but after joining the workshop I was confident that I could learn Figma. So I started transferring my design to Figma. I created the memo pads, lists, and refrigerator in Blender I watched a tutorial on a refrigerator at first that was going to fast I dont think it was for beginners but then I found a tutorial for my notebook that helped me learn blender techniques. I didn't have to go back the tutorial since I had a good basic idea of blender at that point to make a refrigerator and list. I used pngs images from online for the ingredients seen in the thumbnail. I used my own images of food plates and put them in keynote and deleted the background for them on there.
Challenges we ran into
I had never used Figma or blender before but I had ideas that I wanted to execute so I was deep in tutorials all morning. Specifically for blender once I had created my notepad I was so happy but soon got frustrated as a I had not clue how to export it and the camera setting up feature was a pain to learn maybe it was also the added exhaustion but that was not a great time to have.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Using Figma and blender. This was a low pressure setting for me to learn and I felt all the motivation to actually learn new techniques that could help my design. I have always wanted to use the two and now I was able to learn more about them and now I'm glad I have the basics under my skillset that I can continue building onto. I'm proud but more happy than anything that I used blender!
What we learned
Design is nice! After the workshop with flogou I had a redirect in my thought process that helped elevate the ideas that had. There is so many ways to think of and do design and idea brainstorming is fun but it can be tedious. It's important to break down into tangible experiences to understand what we want out of an experience and interface.
What's next for kitchen-list
Animate the refrigerator to open the door to show the scrollable ingredients. Implement more animations like page flipping or the list of meals being posted on the refrigerator with the magnet. Expand on the customization, that way users are able to create a familiar digital kitchen. Overall I want to continue designing more!
