Inspiration
As an avid reader who frequently travels, I find it challenging to carry physical books with me. Although I own a Kindle, I believe there is still room for improvement in the eBook ecosystem to capture the essence of a physical book. Physical books offer the joy of gifting, the opportunity for book exchanges, and even the possibility of reselling. So I developed Kitabay :)
What it does
Kitabay allows users to Publish or Buy a Book as an NFT, once a user has the NFT of a book, he has access to the book's content which can be traded, gifted or resold. Simple Right?
How we built it
- I have used Next + Charkra UI + Typescript for the frontend with the sweet SSR.
- To interact with the Smart contract Rainbow and Wagmi are used.
- For Smart contract development and Testing Foundry is utilized.
- Polybase is used to save user's data, and the library of books.
- Lighthouse SDK is used for token gated content.
Challenges we ran into
- The FVM ecosystem was new to me.
- I built this application solo with was pretty challanging
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The entire application was built within a timeframe of 10 days.
What's next for Kitabay
- Better dashboard for authors.
- Custom PDF readers
