Inspiration

As an avid reader who frequently travels, I find it challenging to carry physical books with me. Although I own a Kindle, I believe there is still room for improvement in the eBook ecosystem to capture the essence of a physical book. Physical books offer the joy of gifting, the opportunity for book exchanges, and even the possibility of reselling. So I developed Kitabay :)

What it does

Kitabay allows users to Publish or Buy a Book as an NFT, once a user has the NFT of a book, he has access to the book's content which can be traded, gifted or resold. Simple Right?

How we built it

  • I have used Next + Charkra UI + Typescript for the frontend with the sweet SSR.
  • To interact with the Smart contract Rainbow and Wagmi are used.
  • For Smart contract development and Testing Foundry is utilized.
  • Polybase is used to save user's data, and the library of books.
  • Lighthouse SDK is used for token gated content.

Challenges we ran into

  • The FVM ecosystem was new to me.
  • I built this application solo with was pretty challanging

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • The entire application was built within a timeframe of 10 days.

What's next for Kitabay

  • Better dashboard for authors.
  • Custom PDF readers

Built With

  • chakra
  • foundry
  • fvm
