Inspiration

Our inspiration was the struggles women all over the world face as they experience everyday tasks. We came up with an idea which incorporates multiple kits that would be of use to women everywhere.

What it does

KIT provides women everywhere with the bare necessities one needs during such events. This is also a great way for women to buy essentials at once without going through the hassle of buying these items separately. With KIT, we do the hard stuff for you!

How we built it

We used HTML and CSS to code this website on a platform called glitch.com. In addition, we also gathered everyday materials from our house to build a prototype kit!

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was using VS code. Originally, we began programming on that platform only to realize that the software was glitching for many of us. To save us time we all agreed to switch to glitch.com. This was so much better for all of us to collaborate and communicate with one another. We also faced other technical coding issues such as formatting and color schemes which we later resolved through the help of Google!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our team is very proud of our entire idea. We think more than the creation we have worked very hard on, we know our idea is very innovative and many will find it useful. Additionally, we are also very proud to say that we didn't use any outside help during the making of this project. It was a very fulfilling experience to have done this much work simply amongst the four of us.

What we learned

The biggest takeaway we have is the knowledge we gained through this project. For example, we found it quite interesting that nearly 20% of women carry around pepper spray as a result of feeling unsafe in public.

What's next for KIT

We plan to take KIT forward, launching this onto a bigger platform to spread awareness and gain knowledge in the topic. We plan to have a mobile app which will be used to buy these kits online. To summarize, we are very proud of our idea and the website we have created alongside it. We hope to continue this idea to further support and spread awareness about women empowerment.
