Inspiration
Managing personal finances can feel overwhelming, especially for individuals with irregular income or limited financial literacy. I wanted to create a simple and accessible tool for everyday users to track their income, expenses, and savings without the complexity of spreadsheets or traditional finance apps. The goal was to make budgeting clear, visual, and motivational.
What it does
- Allows users to log daily income and expenses
- Categorizes transactions by type (e.g., food, rent, salary)
- Displays balance summary and monthly breakdown
- Helps users see their spending habits at a glance
- Fully usable on mobile and desktop browsers
How we built it
- Built using Bolt.new as the core no-code platform
- Designed a clean UI with custom components and data logic
- Used local storage and dynamic state logic to track user inputs
- Organized all screens in a linear, beginner-friendly flow
- Published live at: https://kasadefteri.netlify.app
Challenges we ran into
- Designing a structure that works without requiring user login
- Keeping the app simple while still offering useful analytics
- Managing currency inputs and number formatting across devices
- Creating a layout that works for both touch and mouse users
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built and deployed a fully functional personal finance app in under 48 hours
- Achieved a clean and distraction-free UI for budget tracking
- Created something that non-technical users can start using instantly
- The app is already being used by testers for daily spending logging
What we learned
- How to build modular and reusable logic in Bolt
- Importance of user-centered design in financial tools
- Small UX details (like input size, tab flow, color hierarchy) make a big difference

- Export data as CSV or PDF reports
- Add recurring income/expense tracking
