Inspiration

Difficult experiences at work are often hard to explain later. Details end up scattered across notes, photos, and conversations. Kirokune gives people a calm place to record what happened in their own words, then organize it when they are ready.

What it does

Kirokune is an iPhone app for documenting workplace incidents and preparing for a conversation. It brings notes, recordings, photos, and selected exported chat messages together in cases and a chronological timeline. People can start without an account; record content stays on their iPhone unless they choose to share it.

Kirokune supports Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. Kirokune Plus offers unlimited cases and PDF review exports through monthly, annual, or lifetime purchases.

How it is built

Kirokune is a native iOS app built with Swift and SwiftUI. RevenueCat manages purchase entitlements and restoration for Kirokune Plus. Record content is not sent to RevenueCat.

Challenges and lessons

Localization goes beyond translating buttons. Chat-import guidance, date formatting, and support wording need to fit each language. Kirokune lets people select only the exported messages they need, and keeps their original record text unchanged. Japanese-only generated reflection features are not presented as translated features in other languages.

The product also needs clear boundaries: it helps organize records, but does not determine what happened or promise a legal outcome. Recording guidance encourages people to check local rules and prioritize their safety.

What we are proud of

The first public release was on August 14, 2026. Version 1.0.2 adds four languages to the original Japanese experience, making the core recording and timeline workflow accessible to more people.

Social impact

Kirokune is designed to reduce the burden of remembering and organizing difficult workplace experiences. People can gather details at their own pace before deciding whether and how to have a conversation. It does not provide medical care, emergency support, findings of fact, or legal advice.
