Inspiration

Our inspirations for this project were the daily social media apps we used and our own grandparents. We noticed all of the problems they faced even doing simple tasks like walking everyday. We decided to take social media apps like Instagram and Tinder and add a unique twist that could help benefit elderly people around the world.

What it does

Our app connects elderly people with volunteers around their neighborhood. It's a mix of Instagram and Tinder, where elderly people can connect and communicate and get help for daily tasks. For example, let's say a person of age needs to go to a grocery store and they need a wheelchair, bht have no one to accompany them. They can get on the app and reach out to a volunteer who can help them get there. Our app solves a real-world issue and can help millions of elderly people around he world.

How we built it

We built the app through Flutterflow and used a template but made major edits to match our theme. Our app is a combination of Instagram and Tinder is smooth and user-friendly so that elderly people can connect with volunteers easily online.

Challenges we ran into

We had no prior knowledge of Flutterflow. We had to watch tutorials and learn from the beginning about making an application. We also really struggled with APIs. Finding databases that really fit into the theme of our application was also a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite having limited time and no prior knowledge of Flutterflow, we were still able to make an app that solved a real world problem. We overcame these problems and worked together as a team to help build an app that could help millions in the USA.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the application-making process, but most importantly, we learned how to be proactive and look for problems around our community to solve. We learned that even the smallest solutions can make a massive impact on our community.

What's next for Kinect

We are planning to release this app on the App Store soon. This will allow it to be accessible to millions around the country and can help solve a massive problem nationally. Helping to solve a problem like this on such a huge scale can be extremely beneficial for elderly people.
