FlashCare pairs families with verified caregivers through a fast, swipe-based marketplace. Built in Bolt after June 1st 2025, the cross-platform MVP runs on React Native + Expo Router, Supabase for secure data and real-time chat, and RevenueCat for pay-to-contact fees. Lucide icons and a senior-friendly UI keep the experience clear, while row-level security protects every credential.

Inspiration

Quiet hallway conversations with a grandmother, an exhausted veteran, and siblings juggling shifts showed how one caring moment can lift a day. Those snapshots became the “why” behind FlashCare: a space where trust and warmth meet practical help.

What it does

  • Tinder-style swipe to match families and HCA-verified caregivers
  • Filters for distance, skills, availability, HCA certificate, and fingerprint status
  • Pay-to-contact model: browse free, unlock chat after a small fee
  • Real-time messaging with typing indicators, file share, read receipts
  • Secure vault for licenses and care plans (row-level-secured Supabase storage).

How we built it

  • Front end – React Native + Expo Router for web, iOS, Android
  • Back end – Supabase Postgres, Auth, Storage, live subscriptions
  • Payments – RevenueCat SDK handles one-time contact fees
  • UI – Lucide icons, Tailwind-style utilities, responsive cards
  • Architecture – Context state, custom hooks, service modules; HIPAA-minded storage choices

Challenges we ran into

Cross-platform gesture quirks, real-time chat state, secure document uploads, trust-first verification, and balancing a simple paywall with an easy first-use flow. RAN OUT OF TOKENS!!!!

What we learned

Bolt’s block-first workflow let us iterate on empathy, not just code; strong verification badges drive trust; and a tight, task-based scope beats feature sprawl.

What’s next for FlashCare

AI-assisted route-based schedule suggestions, real-time fingerprint background-check API, testimonial-driven marketing, and local senior-center onboarding workshops.
