Inspiration
Lisa and I met on X, we were both looking for a cofounder. She is UX/UI designer and I'm software developer. We wanted to build a product that could be useful for early stage parents, as she has been evolving in this field. On my side, I was super enthousiast about how we can improve kid education and solve some of their problem with bedtime storytelling, especially in co creation with AI. So, we teamed up and started building it 😊
It’s like having a magical author and illustrator on demand, 24/7.
Tired after a long day, wanting to create something magical for our little one, but running out of ideas. We wanted to make storytelling feel effortless again, not as a replacement for bonding, but as a spark for it.
KidzHero is about making children feel seen, valued, and inspired, not just entertained. Because every child deserves to be the hero of their own story, every day and night.
The design of KidzHero is inspired by the soft, whimsical world of children’s books and nursery décor. Our goal was to create an interface that is calm, safe, and has gentle colours.
What it does
Every child dreams of being the hero in their own adventure. With KidzHero, that dream comes to life in just a few taps.
Together, parents and children can co-create magical, one-of-a-kind stories where your little one is the star. Start by creating their hero profile: choose an avatar, add their name, and include favorite animals, colors, or special quirks that make them… them.
Next, pick a theme that sparks their imagination from flying through space on a dragon-shaped rocket… to solving mysteries in a magic school… to becoming a superhero who talks to animals.
Within seconds, KidzHero weaves a unique, beautifully written story just for them.
It’s like having a gentle, personal storyteller in your pocket, 24/7.
Ready to make your child the hero of their own bedtime story?
How we built it
KidzHero began with a question: “What if we could help parents create magical bedtime stories where their child is the hero instantly, and effortlessly?”
To answer that, we started by diving deep into research. We conducted market analysis and looked closely at what already existed in storytelling apps and AI tools. From this competitive analysis, we identified clear gaps: many apps were overstimulating, impersonal, or too rigid.
From there, we reimagined the storytelling experience from the ground up one centered on children’s emotional needs and parents’ real-life routines.
Lisa, our designer, brought this vision to life with a thoughtful, soft UI and a visual language inspired by her little son's picture books and gentle nursery themes.
Eric led the development and made everything real implementing a seamless, cross-platform experience and carefully integrating AI so that each story is truly unique, responsive to your child’s world, and ready in seconds.
Challenges we ran into
We ran out of time releasing the App on the App Store (even if it's available on Testflight), so we had to release a web version at the last minute : https://kidzhero.vercel.app/
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Story Generation working for 10+ languages.
What we learned
I learned to use Bolt and RevenueCat. Learnt to create illustrations and animations in Figma, convert them to Lottie and implement with Bolt.
What's next for Kidz Hero
Implement audio and image generation. The app will be available in 2-3 days in the App Store 😁.
