We hope to opt in for all the MLH prizes.
Inspiration
Have you ever wasted time wondering what to do with your friends? Well, we have and it sucks.
What it does
It allows you and your friends to vote on activities within a 5 mile radius. So think Kahoot and Tinder for hanging out.
How we built it
We used React, Express, Google Cloud's API to fetch nearby locations and Node.js and Socket.io for creating sessions.
Challenges we ran into
Merge conflicts were a pretty big issue for us. Styling with css was also a bit of a pain during the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating group sessions that each friend group can join and can connect on separate devices.
What we learned
We learned how to actively problem solve, collaborate on a tech project, use Google API's and how to connect backend with the frontend.
What's next for KickIt
We hope to be able to host our code on web servers instead of local machines.
