Inspiration
Kavya has had experience working in a clinical research setting. It involved days and months of manual data entry of patient records to research databases. Since a lot of the required information is written as healthcare providers' notes, it has been difficult to extract that data accurately. However, after talking to Nipun, we thought there is a great opportunity for growth here by implementing Artificial Intelligence to review the notes. Therefore, we came up with the idea for Khoj
What it does
Khoj has 2 novel aspects. First it serves as a digital announcement board for the patients that compare the eligibility requirements directly to the patient's medical history records to show all clinical research studies the patient is able to apply for. From the clinician/researcher's perspective, they are able to compare the patient history to the protocol directly, and the AI tool highlights what in the record makes the patient eligible.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges we ran into was the gemini model hallucinating so my years of prompt engineering for assignments finally came into use and help me increase the accuracy significantly
