Inspiration
India has over 100 million small farms. When a crop goes wrong, the farmer usually needs a few specific inputs (traps, a bio-pesticide, a soil test, safety gloves) and cannot always pay for them on the day. Relatives in cities, FPOs and donors would happily fund a specific kit if they could trust what it contains.
What it does
- The farmer's need, in plain words โ in English, Hindi or Marathi (the whole UI switches; the agent writes the kit summary, each item's reason and the expert questions in Devanagari).
- The agent builds a kit from a vetted 25-item catalog with fixed prices, inside the budget. Totals are computed in code, never by the model.
- Anyone funds it with PayPal Checkout โ the whole kit or a part; the agent creates an itemised PayPal order from its own kit; a funding bar fills as people pay.
- What happens after the money: a fulfilment plan grouped by supplier (FPO input shop, KVK soil lab, seed dealer) with subtotals; suppliers are paid only after the farmer or KVK confirms delivery (planned; the demo stops at the sandbox).
- Safety floor in code: pesticide-dose questions are never answered with a dose (the farmer is sent to the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra); poisoning or self-harm messages get emergency numbers (108 / 112 / Tele-MANAS 14416) and no kit; anything sprayed comes with safety gear.
What is live, plainly: PayPal Checkout buttons run in the PayPal sandbox with PayPal's public sandbox client. The server-side Orders v2 path (create + capture with idempotency keys) ships in the code but needs merchant sandbox credentials to switch on.
How we built it
One serverless worker (site/worker.mjs) plus a static page, deployed on Vercel. Model: Groq openai/gpt-oss-120b with fallbacks and a rules-only path, JSON mode, then validated against the catalog in code. Kits are HMAC-signed so a shared link can't be edited. Built spec-first with Kiro (.kiro/specs/judge-ready-v3/); 21 Node tests, all passing.
Challenges
Keeping money exact (the model proposes, code prices); writing Devanagari reasons without breaking JSON; a Kiro run left a truncated Marathi string that broke the page, so we added a parse test that now guards it.
Accomplishments
Three versions, each after outside review (Fo by Wajo, Skydive agent "Arden", an open-weight critic). The full review log is in ROUNDS.md. No invented users or pilot numbers.
What's next
Merchant sandbox credentials for server-side capture, delivery confirmation by the KVK, and a pilot with one FPO.
Built by Tab, an AI assistant, for team lead Akshay Wagh. Demo narration is synthetic (AI voice).
