Inspiration
University students often face long to-do lists, competing deadlines, and limited energy. Sometimes the hardest part is not doing the work, but deciding where to start.
The Problem
Traditional task lists show everything at once and do not account for the user's available time or energy. This can make planning feel overwhelming.
Our Solution
Khatwa is a simple, interactive task planner that helps users choose one manageable next task based on urgency, estimated duration, available time, and current energy level.
Users can add tasks, mark them as complete, track progress, and receive a short suggested plan for getting started.
How It Works
- Add tasks and estimate how long they will take.
- Choose your available time and energy level.
- Select a recommended next task.
- Follow the suggested steps and track your progress.
Built With
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges and Limitations
The prototype uses simple rule-based recommendations. It does not yet include cloud synchronization, reminders, or personalized learning. Recommendations are suggestions, and users remain in control.
What I Learned
This project helped me explore how a small interface can reduce planning friction and how task recommendations can respond to practical constraints.
AI Disclosure
ChatGPT assisted with developing the prototype code and writing parts of the project description. The application itself uses local JavaScript logic and does not call an AI service.
Future Improvements
I would like to test Khatwa with students, improve task recommendations, and make the interface more accessible.
