Millions of small businesses in India still rely on paper notebooks, WhatsApp messages, or spreadsheets to track money owed by customers and suppliers. These methods often lead to forgotten payments, accounting errors, and disputes. Existing accounting software is frequently too complex or expensive for micro and small businesses. We wanted to build a simple, mobile-first digital ledger that helps business owners record transactions in seconds and always know who owes whom.

What it does

KhataLedger is a digital business ledger designed for small businesses, shop owners, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.

It enables users to:

• Record money given and received.
• Maintain customer and supplier ledgers.
• View outstanding balances instantly.
• Track complete transaction history.
• Generate a clear overview of business finances.
• Access records anytime without relying on physical notebooks.

The goal is to make bookkeeping simple, organized, and accessible for every small business.

How we built it

We designed KhataLedger with a mobile-first approach focused on simplicity and speed.

The application includes:

• A modern Android application interface.
• Secure user authentication.
• Cloud-based data storage for reliable synchronization.
• Structured ledger management for customers and transactions.
• A clean dashboard that prioritizes usability over unnecessary complexity.

Throughout development, we iterated on the user experience to reduce the number of taps required to record a transaction, making the app practical for daily business use.
