Khatabol — Making Bookkeeping as Simple as Speaking

Inspiration

Millions of homemakers and small entrepreneurs manage their businesses without formal accounting knowledge. Many still rely on notebooks, memory, or scattered messages to track daily transactions. We wanted to make financial management simple, accessible, and language-friendly.

That led to Khatabol, a voice-first bookkeeping assistant that lets users record expenses, payments, and income simply by speaking.

What We Built

Khatabol allows users to:

  • 🎙️ Record transactions using voice input in multiple languages
  • ✍️ Add or edit transactions manually
  • 📊 Track monthly expenses and generate financial reports
  • 💰 Monitor profit/loss and pending payments
  • 📝 View and edit transaction history
  • 🤖 Get assistance from a 24/7 AI-powered chat assistant

The goal was not to build another complicated accounting platform, but something that feels as easy as talking to a person.

How We Built It

We developed the MVP with a modern web stack, integrating AI-powered voice interaction with a simple, intuitive interface. We focused heavily on reducing the number of steps required to record a transaction and making the experience accessible to users who may not be comfortable with traditional accounting software.

Challenges & Learnings

One of our biggest challenges was balancing AI capabilities with simplicity. A technically impressive product is not useful if the target user finds it intimidating.

We learned that building for accessibility requires more than adding features—it requires understanding how people actually work. User feedback helped us simplify the interface, introduce confirmation and editing for voice entries, and focus on the features that provide immediate value.

Building Khatabol also taught us how to go beyond just coding: problem validation, user research, product design, business modelling, and pitching were equally important.

What's Next?

We envision Khatabol evolving into a complete financial companion for micro-entrepreneurs—with smarter insights, localized language support, financial recommendations, and connections to relevant financial and business services.

Khatabol's mission is simple: make bookkeeping as easy as having a conversation.
