Inspiration

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic began, physical stores have become the second choice for purchasing products because businesses started shifting their operations online due to the lockdowns. However, physical stores will not disappear anytime soon. The predictions that retail will be dead soon are … well, dead. Instead of an apocalypse, we've witnessed a renaissance. AR Technology has played the leading role in the retail transformation, and the progress we've seen so far is just a short trailer for what we are about to see in the future.

What it does

Our web AR-based prototype provides solutions to retail or small e-commerce websites using technologies such as WebAR through Zappar. Our solution allows users to access AR content without the need to download a separate app or software. This can be experienced on a wide range of devices, including desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices.

How we built it

We have built a prototype to provide Web AR-based solution to a wide range of small businesses like Jewelry, furniture, fashion etc. We have used Unity game engine with Zapper SDK ** to develop **Web AR based experience. Some of our prototype features include - FASHION - AR technology can also be used to enhance fashion shows and other events. For example, AR could be used to project virtual models or clothing onto a physical runway, or to display additional information about the garments being shown.

Challenges we ran into

There are many challenges that can arise while building this prototype for this challenge. Here are a few examples: Technical challenges: AR technology can be complex and requires specialized software and hardware to implement. Building and maintaining an AR system can be a significant technical challenge, especially for small or underfunded companies. User experience: Creating a seamless and intuitive AR experience for customers can be difficult. It's important to ensure that the AR app is easy to use and does not create confusion or frustration for users. Compatibility: Not all devices are compatible with AR technology, which can limit the reach of an AR application. It's important to consider the types of devices that users are likely to have when developing an AR app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In this small period of time, we are able to build prototype of almost every field of e-commerce like - Fashion, Jewelry, Furniture, and an AR reward Game. We are proud of successfully solving a difficult problem or challenge. We Implemented a unique or innovative solution and learned to Collaborate effectively with team members.

What we learned

We have learned new skills or technologies like Web AR and come to know about this awesome SDK Zappar. This is the first time we have built an AR experience on the Web rather than on Android. Creating a high-quality product under time constraints taught a lot to all of us.

What's next for Untitled

We have planned many potential future plans and developments for the use of augmented reality (Web AR) in e-commerce. Some possibilities include: Improved integration of AR into e-commerce websites and mobile apps, making it easier for users to access and use AR features. Increased use of AR for product demonstrations and interactive instructions, helping customers better understand and use products. Expansion of AR-powered virtual showrooms or storefronts, enabling customers to shop in immersive, lifelike virtual environments.
