Inspiration
Before leaving for Cal Hacks, I grabbed a random handful of parts and challenged myself to build something with it. I had keyswitches and a screen, so i figured a game console would be cool
What it does
It's a small device that hangs off your backpack that acts as an mini arcade!
How we built it
I used an XIAO rp2040 and the arduino IDE, along with adafruit's libraries for parts like the OLED display.
Challenges we ran into
3D printed parts were really hard to get right because I didn't have any measuring tools. I also didn't plan this project beforehand, so I had to do a lot of random sidequests to get the parts necessary to get this to work. Going out and getting wires, finding 3D printers to use, etc.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Overcoming all the challenges mentioned before! I barely slept.
What we learned
HARDWARE IS HARD
What's next for Keychain Arcade
Polishing this further! I think it's actually a really cool concept and would be amazing to compact & add a battery to. I would genuinely carry it around, especially if I could make it a 2-player device.
