Katchup is an iOS application designed to help facilitate communications between students and instructors in a classroom environment to gauge instruction pace and material absorption. It is currently being developed for iOS devices using the Objective-C programming language and the XCode IDE.

With technologies such as smartphones and tablets becoming more common in the workplace, it is about time we begin envisioning a classroom of the future. Katchup aims to leverage these technologies in an effort to make students learn better and instructors teach better.

Normally, in a small class setting, students would raise their hand and the professor could call out and answer questions easily, one by one. However, in larger classrooms, the traditional method can become unwieldy when passing the mic (or the professor himself) straight to the inquirer themselves. Not to mention that, as questions & answers are not recorded, the professor could be bogged down by similar questions... or students might not hear a question that could refer to them.
