Keropok - UNShare

With social media, content is easily shared but also easily stolen. UNShare combats copyright infringement by embedding hidden data in images to identify and prevent unauthorised uploads.

Inspiration

What it does

UNShare embeds data into the multimedia such as images. Images were used for this project for this simplicity.

How we built it

We created a flask web app interface to run the algorithm. When images are uploaded, data is placed in the metadata of the image. When subsequent malicious infringer try to download and reupload the data to a separate account, admins will be notified by a telegram bot.

Challenges we ran into

We have many ideas to encrypt the metadata into the image. However, ideas like creating a new file extension is too difficult and there may a need to write programs to an OS level to accept new proprietary file types.

When we want to try to encode data with DCT or DWT, we are unable to replicate the success and also deal to limited time, we are unable to complete it.

We got a MVP of our product although there could be more development with more time given.

What's next for Keropok - UNShare

More advanced algorithm to imprint these data into the images and to be detected even after cropping.
