Inspiration

Growing up in rural Kenya i often wondered how the world looks like, even though we had printed maps from the books, more often than not my questions were left unanswered. With Kephotho Maps curious learners like me (as i was) can now go beyond textbook maps and explore the world in their own way. Having fun with Maps

What it does

linkKephotho Maps combines different Google Maps APIs where a user can move from one API to another, though a touch of a button.

How we built it

[Kephotho Maps]](https://kephotho-maps-91d54.web.app/#/maps) is built on Angular and hosted on Firebase. No Backed that is coming up in later release.

Challenges we ran into

(1) Integrating Google Maps API in Angular more so Typescript. (2) Map styling didn't work as expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Having a custom Google Maps i can now say i have a product that will change how majority of users from rural Kenya and Beyond can extend what they read on books and use Kephotho Maps to learn more about the world.

What we learned

I finally learned Google Maps. It was in my to Learn List for long. Street View. What a fun. Travelling the world from my laptop or mobile phone. 3D Maps. WebGl. Three Js

What's next for Kephotho Maps

To continue building up and extending user experience on Google Maps. Integrating with NodeJs Back-end and persisting data using a database instead of local storage. Improve and Optimize page loads. Integrating more Google Maps APIs in Kephotho Maps. Build a Web Based Game on maps WebGL feature.
